We read the noise so you get the signal

Pennant Review started in 2022 with a simple frustration: business news either talked down to owners or sailed over them. We wanted a magazine written from inside the work — from the shop floor, the night train and the council chamber — that treats readers like operators, not an audience.

Today we publish across seven desks: Business, Technology, Politics, Travel, Sports, Marketing and Motivation. Every story passes the same test — would this help someone make a better decision on Monday morning?

How we work

Our writers file from coworking desks, factory floors and ferry terminals — rarely from press-release inboxes. We survey real owners every year, test the gear we recommend for a month before reviewing it, and publish our corrections as prominently as our scoops.

Independence is a business model: readers first, advertisers clearly labeled, and no pay-to-play coverage, ever.

Original reporting

We go to the meeting, ride the train and test the device — first-hand or not at all.

Plain language

No jargon, no throat-clearing. If a story needs a glossary, we rewrite the story.

Memberships keep us answerable to readers. Sponsored content is rare and always labeled.
